Number 5 Mary Chapin Carpenter
Mary Chapin Carpenter (born February 21, 1958) is a five-time Grammy Award-winning country/folk singer-songwriter and guitarist. After the success of her 1989 “State of the Heart”, she released “Shooting Straight in the Dark” in 1990, that produced two hugh hits, the Grammy Award-winning “Down at the Twist and Shout” and “You Win Again.” Two years later, Carpenter released the album that, to date has been her biggest popular success, the triple-platinum “Come On Come On” (1992).

Wynonna Ellen Judd (born May 30, 1964) Born Christina Claire Ciminella, she is normally referred to by simply Wynonna. Making her debut as the lead singer of the 1980s country music duo The Judds, with her mother Naomi Judd. Between 1983 and 1991, The Judds charted twenty-three hit singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country. They recorded eight studio albums plus two Greatest Hits compilations. After a bout of hepatitis forced Naomi to retire, Wynonna set out on her own with a successful solo career.

Alison Krauss (born July 23, 1971) is an American bluegrass-country singer and fiddle player. Alison won many local singing contests by the age of ten and recording for the first time on her brother’s album at fourteen. She signed with Rounder Records in 1985 and released her first solo album at sixteen in 1987. Alison Krauss has won a record twenty Grammy Awards over the course of her career as a solo artist, as a group with Union Station, and as a record producer

K.D. Lang (born Kathryn Dawn Lang on November 2, 1961) K.D’s music career took off when Roy Orbison chose her to record a duet of his hit, “Crying”. The collaboration won them a Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals. Her next album is due in 2008 titled Watershed.
